Nepal Bhutan tour is the best way to explore and experience major sightseeing places; Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Patan, and Nagarkot in Nepal then Paro, Thimpu, and Punakha in Bhutan. Our 9 days Nepal Bhutan sightseeing tour offers a wide range of natural and cultural appeal.  Nepal and Bhutan tour with Nepal Guide Treks starts in Kathmandu.

A full day of sightseeing in Kathmandu includes four major places – Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swyambhu Nath Temple, Pashupati Nath Temple, and Bouddha Nath Stupa. Those places are listed by UNESCO in their world heritage sites list. On this day, we explore richness in culture, art, architecture, iconography, and heritages with warm harmony between Hindu and Buddhist religions.

Enjoying Nepal Bhutan Tour, after completing a day of sightseeing, we fly to Paro airport from Kathmandu. The day follows a sightseeing tour in Paro including Rinpung Dzong monastery and Kichu Lhakhang temple. Then you will be taken to Bhutan victory fort – Drugyal Dzong on the same day. If the day is clear we will have a chance to see the view of Mt. Chomolhari 7314m (the second highest mountain in Bhutan).

The next day, we hike to Bhutan’s famous monastery – Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) and in the evening, transfer to Thimpu.  Sightseeing of Thimpu includes visiting; the BBS tower, hiking to Wangditse Gompa, the national zoo, king’s Memorial Chorten, the nunnery temple, majestic Tashichho Dzong, textile museum, and several places. Again journey leads to a day sightseeing tour to Punakha. After accomplishing the sightseeing tour in Bhutan, we will fly back to Kathmandu.  

Again in Kathmandu, we will have a sightseeing tour in Bhaktapur and Patan then transfer to Nagarkot hill for an amazing sunrise/sunset view over the Himalayas. Finally, transfer to the international airport after accomplishing a wonderful holiday experience of the Nepal Bhutan Tour with NGT.

  • Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu [1345m/4411ft] and transfer to hotel.

    Our representative from Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition will greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival schedule. Then you will be transferred to the hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city. Our staff will help you until the check-in procedure ends at the Hotel. You can either have rest at the Hotel or visit NGT’s office for gathering information about the tour. In the evening, please join our welcome dinner program organized by Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition.

  • Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu
    Today we will spend most of our day sightseeing around some of the world heritage sites of UNESCO inside Kathmandu Valley. 

    Note: It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. So you can choose at least 3-4 places for day sightseeing.

  • Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Paro [2250m/7382ft] [1 hr flight]

    Today you will be transferred to the airport for taking a flight to Paro. After landing at Paro airport you will be greeted by our representative from Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition. Then you will be transferred to the hotel in Paro. After lunch, we will visit Rinpung Dzong, built-in 1646 which now houses the government administrative offices of Paro Dzong. We will also pay our visit to the Oldest Temple of the country – Kichu Lhakhang and Drugyul Dzong which was built in 1646 when Bhutan gain victory over Tibetan invaders around the 17th century. We will spend the overnight in Paro.

  • Day 04: Drive from Paro to Thimphu [2320m/7610ft] [1 hour drive]

    After breakfast, we will take an hour’s drive towards the modern capital city of Bhutan – Thimpu. At Thimpu we will make visits to National Memorial Chorten, National Library – for witnessing piles of priceless Buddhist manuscripts, Bhutan Folk Heritage Museum – where we can learn about Bhutanese household and lifestyle as the museum exhibits items and artefacts used in a rural household. In the evening, walking the streets of Thimpu is a good idea. We will spend our overnight at Thimpu and do some more sightseeing the following day.

  • Day 05: Sightseeing tour in Thimpu and Hike to Wangditse Gompa

    Today we will spend our day sightseeing around Thimpu. We will visit the Textile Museum – where the traditional art of weaving is still preserved. There is a fine collection of old textiles with a fascinating mixture of colours and designs. We will also visit the Handicraft Emporium that has impressive Bhutanese handicrafts for sale. Then we will take an hour’s hike to Wangditse Gompa. Our hike is over a levelled trail that offers stunning views of Tashichho Dzong. We can enjoy great views of Samtenling Palace which was home of the Fourth King of Bhutan. And also the meditation retreat centre of Dorje Drak above the hillside. We will return back to Thimpu for overnight stay.

  • Day 06: Thimpu to Punakha [1250m/4100ft] [2 - 3 hours drive] Hike to Lungchutse Monastery

    Today we will leave Thimpu and drive passing along Dochu La Pass at 3100 meters. We will get stunning views of the high snow-capped mountains on a clear day. We start our hike towards Lungchutse Monastery from here. Our hike is over a gradually rising trail that goes along the high ridges with colourful Buddhist prayers flag. We will reach the monastery in about two hours of hiking. After exploring around we will descend back to Dochu La Pass and drive downhill through the densely forested area towards Punakha for our overnight stay.

  • Day 07: Sightseeing at Punakha & Drive back to Paro [130 km - 4 hours drive]

    After breakfast, we will visit Punakha Dzong (second oldest and second-largest Dzong of Bhutan) – a fortress that was built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Rinpoche. Punakha Dzong is remarkably located between the two rivers of Mo (Female) the Chu and Pho (Male) the Chu and houses the most elaborated temple in Bhutan. It is the ancient capital of Bhutan and served as the winter capital (settlement) for more than 300 years. Then we will take a drive from Punakha back to Paro.

  • Day 08: Fly from Paro to Kathmandu. Sightseeing in Patan and Bhaktapur. Evening drive to Nagarkot Hill [2200m/7216ft]

    Today you will be transferred to Paro Airport for taking a flight from Paro back to Kathmandu. Our representative will pick you up at the airport in Kathmandu. Then we will spend our day sightseeing around Patan and Bhaktapur – inside Kathmandu valley. After sightseeing, we will drive to the hotel in Nagarkot Hillside. From here we can enjoy the stunning and up-close view of whole Langtang Himalayan Range. We will spend the overnight in Nagarkot.

  • Day 09: Early morning sunrise view from Nagarkot. Drive to airport as per flight schedule.

    We start early and reach the viewpoint before the morning light. Then we will enjoy the stunning sunrise view over the high snow-capped mountains. It truly is an amazing way to end the tour. We will spend some quality time at the viewpoint and drive back to Kathmandu. Then you will be transferred to International Airport as per your flight schedule.
