  • Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu [1345m/4411ft] and transfer to hotel

    Location: Kathmandu

    Kathmandu Altitude: 1345 Meters

    Accommodation: Hotel

    The Langtang Ganja La Pass trek starts after you arrive from your home country in Kathmandu. You will land at Tribhuvan International Airport, from where you will be escorted to the hotel by our agent.

    You can rest at a hotel or visit NGT Office after you move to a hotel. Later, you will attend the dinner program organized by our company, where you will meet the company officials and your guides and porters.

  • Day 02: Sightseeing at Kathmandu Valley

    Location: Kathmandu

    Kathmandu Altitude: 1345 Meters

    Activities: Sightseeing

    After spending your first night in Kathmandu, you will prepare for sightseeing activities inside the valley. You will wake up early in the morning on the next day and start your journey to several destinations like Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, and Narayanhiti Palace.

    During your sightseeing activity, you can delve deeper into the history and culture of Nepal. Similarly, you can get Hinduism and Buddhism’s religious significance while visiting Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, and Boudhanath.

    After you finish your sightseeing activities, you will transfer to the hotel.

  • Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi [1460mm/4788ft] [7-8 hrs Drive]

    Syabrubesi Altitude: 1460 meters

    On the third day of the Langtang Ganja La Pass trek, you will ride from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. You will arrive at Machhapokhari Buspark in Balaju and take a local bus to Rasuwa. It takes around 7 to 8 hours to reach Syabrubesi.

    During the ride, you will pass across several villages and towns in Nuwakot, such as Battar, Bandre, and Kalikasthaan. Similarly, you will experience the lush green forests, terraced fields, and rivers during the ride. First, you will reach Dhunche, the headquarters of the Rasuwa district, where you must attend the checkpoint. You can also get the license to Langtang National Park at the checkpost.

    From Dhunche, it only takes 15 to 20 minutes to reach Syabrubesi, where you will stay at a guesthouse.

  • Day 04: Trek from Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel [2470m/8101ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]

    Location: Lama Hotel

    Lama Hotel Altitude: 2470 Meters

    Accommodation: Guest House

    From Syabrubesi, you will start your next journey to Lama Hotel on the fourth day. You will elevate your altitude by 1000 meters on this day. You will start your trek through the left bank of Langtang Khola, climb uphill, and then climb a suspension bridge.

    After a few hours, you will reach Rimche. From there, you will walk straight through the uphill trail to reach Lama Hotel, 2,470 meters above sea level. The total trekking time on this day is 5 to 6 hours.

  • Day 05: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village [3330m/10922ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]

    Langtang Village Altitude: 3330 Meters

    Accommodation: Tea House

    On the fifth day of your Langtang Ganja La Pass Trek, you will wake up early and head towards Langtang Village. Your trail follows the rocky terrain and dense rhododendron, oaks, and birch forest. First, you will reach Gumnachok, and from there, you have to climb uphill steeply to get to Ghoratabela. The officials at the Army Check post in Ghoratabela will check your trekking permits.

    From Ghoratabela, you will walk through the village of Chyamki and then reach Kangtangsa. After reaching Kangtangsa, you will hike for a few more hours to reach Langtang Village at 3,330 meters above sea level. You will stay at a tea house overnight.

  • Day 06: Trek from Langtang Village to Kyangjin Gompa [3870m/12693ft] [3-4 hrs Trek]

    Location: Kyanjin Gompa

    Kyanjin Gompa Altitude: 3,870 Meters

    Accommodation: Tea House

    From Langtang Village, you will hike through the rugged terrain and rocky landscapes to Kyanjin Gompa. The Tibetan monastery is 3,870 meters above sea level, where you can get insights into Buddhism and its practice in the region. The chortens, mani walls, praying wheels, and flags will give you the notion of Buddhism in detail.

    Besides the religious point of view, Kyanjin Gompa, which lies in Kyanjin village, is a perfect viewpoint to watch the Himalayas. Famous peaks like Langtang Ri, Ganesh Himal, Lang Sisa, and Dorje Lakpa can be visible from this point.

    It takes around 3 to 4 hours of hiking from Langtang Village to reach Kyanjin Gompa.

  • Day 07: Hike to Tserko Ri [5000m/16404ft] and back to Kyangjin Gompa [5-6 hrs Trek]

    On the seventh day of your trek, you will hike to the high altitude, Tserko Ri, at 5000 meters (16,404 Feet) above sea level. You will pass through the lush green forest and sloppy landscapes to reach Tserko Ri.

    Tserko Ri is also perfect for spectacular views of Langtang Lirung and other mountain peaks. After successfully reaching Tserko Ri, you will return to Kyanjin Gompa following the same route you used to reach Tserko Ri. You will stay overnight at a tea house.

  • Day 08: Trek to Ganja La Phedi [4300m/14104ft] [3-4 hrs Trek]

    Ganja La Phedi: 4300 Meters

    On the eighth day of your trek, you will reach one of the highest altitudes in the Langtang region, Ganja La Phedi. Ganja La Pass sits at 4300 meters (14,104 Feet) above sea level and is a pleasant viewpoint and trekking destination. You can view the Langtang Range from here and explore the surroundings in detail.

    Remember that Ganja La Phedi is at 4300 meters, where altitude sickness can be troublesome. So you should prepare well with acclimatization, rest, and safety kits.

  • Day 09: Cross the Ganja La Pass [5122m/16800ft] and Trek to Keldang [4250m/13940ft] [6-7 hrs Trek]

    Keldang Altitude: 4250 Meters

    Accommodation: Tea House

    This is a very important day for our trekking package. You will set off adventurous trekking to the highest point, Ganja La Pass, at 5122 meters above sea level. As altitude sickness is prone at high altitudes, we recommend every trekker be well prepared with their gear, equipment, first-aid kits, and other necessary items for this trek.

    You will hike early in the morning through the long ascending trail. The route is technically challenging, so you have the strong physical fitness and mentality to cross it successfully. Reaching Ganja La Pass is not just hiking; it requires technical skills like rope fixing, so trekking here is physically and mentally challenging.

    From Ganja La Pass, you can have spectacular views of mystic mountain ranges, including the peaks like Mt. Naya Kanga and Ganjala Peak. After you reach the high altitude pass, you will descend towards Keldang at 4250 meters above sea level. You will stay at a tea house overnight.

  • Day 10: Trek to Yak Kharka [4000m/13120] [6-7 hrs Trek]

    Location: Yak Kharka

    Yak Kharka Altitude: 4000 Meters

    Accommodation: Tea House

    On the tenth day, you will begin your journey to Yak Kharka, 4000 meters from Keldang. You will descend your altitude by 200 meters this day, so the trek is light with enough rest.

    You will leave Keldang early in the morning and then take a hike through the farmlands, grasslands, and lush green forest, and terraced fields. After passing through some settlements, you will finally reach Yak Kharka – it takes around 6 to 7 hours to reach Yak Kharka from Keldang.

  • Day 11: Trek to Tarke Gyang [2590m/8495ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]

    Tarke Gyang Altitude: 2590 Meters

    Accommodation: Tea House

    On the eleventh day, you will start your journey from Yak Kharka and head towards Tarke Gyang, which sits 2590 meters above sea level. During the trek, you will pass through the traditional Sherpa villages rich in Buddhism and their native culture.

    Similarly, the terraced fields, lush green forests, streams, and waterfalls are worth watching. After around 5 to 6 hours of hiking, you will finally reach Tarke Gyang, Helambu.

  • Day 12: Trek to Sermathang [2610m/8560ft] [3-4 hrs Trek]

    Location: Sermathang

    Sermathang Altitude: 2610 Meters

    Accommodation: Tea House

    You will begin your journey toward Sermathang at 2610 meters above sea level. First, you will reach the Gangyul Valley, where you can have insights into the traditional Sherpa village. You can delve deeper into their history, lifestyle, culture, and tradition.

    After that, you will make your way towards Sermathang – you can reach the destination after a few hours of walking from Gangyul. The village also has a monastery, where you can get the details of the practice of Buddhism in the region.

  • Day 13: Trek to Melamchi Puul Bazaar [3-4 hrs Trek] and Drive to Kathmandu [2-3 hrs Drive]

    Melamchi Puul Bazaar Altitude: 810 Meters

    Accommodation: Hotel

    On the thirteenth day of your Langtang Ganja La Pass trek, you will take a short trek to Melamchi Puul Bazaar, which takes 3 to 4 hours. After that, you will ride back to Kathmandu on a local bus. Your total drive time will be around 2 to 3 hours. After reaching Kathmandu, you will be escorted back to your hotel to stay overnight.

  • Day 14: Transfer to International Airport for departure

    Day 14 is the last day of the Langtang Ganja La Pass Trek. You will return to your home country after the successful journey to the Langtang region along with Ganja La Pass. Our guide will escort you to the Tribhuvan Airport, where you will catch a plane to your home.

The best time to go for the Langtang Ganja La Pass trek depends on your interest and preferences. However, if you see the trend, Autumn and spring are considered the best times. As the months during this season allow you to have an enjoyable trek with the perfect views of mystic mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and green forests, you will surely be on cloud nine.

You can also go for an off-season Langtang Ganja La Pass trek. However, it is not recommended due to safety and other issues. The climate and weather conditions might not be preferable or favorable for you during the off-season trek.

What Do You Need To Consider For This Trek?

Permits

Permits are crucial for the Langtang Ganja La Pass trek since your destinations sit within the restricted area of Langtang National Park. You must have a Langtang National Park Entry Permit from the Tourism Board in Kathmandu, Nepal. This permit costs around NRP 3,000 + 13% VAT (about USD 32) for the foreign trekkers, while it costs NPR 1500 + 13% VAT (about USD 15) for the SAARC Nationals. If you are a Nepali hiker, you only have to pay NPR 100 for this license. Children under 10 years of age do not need permits for the trek.

Physical And Mental Challenges

Langtang Ganja La Pass Trek is a multi-day trekking package, so you must be prepared physically and mentally for this hike. Since your trek is around the remote villages of Nepal, the routes are rugged and seasonal, and you must have the good physical condition for this.
