Best Time for Everest Base camp Short Trek

The Everest Base Camp Short Trek is possible throughout the year. However, you will have different travel experiences at different times. Travelling at the right season/ time will make your trek more comfortable and rewards you with the most scenic vistas of the great Himalayas.

Autumn (September to November) and Spring (March to May) are the best times for the Everest Base Camp Short Trek. During these times of the year, the weather remains ideal. During Autumn and Winter, the sky is clearer with plenty of sunshine which offers unobstructed views. Moreover, autumn is the best time in Nepal to observe two of the most significant festivals of Nepal: Dashain and Tihar.

The weather during Summer and Winter may add some hurdles to the trek. During summer, there will be rainfall in Nepal and the trails will be muddy and slippery. Similarly, during winter, precipitation takes place in the form of snow at the mountains and the severe cold weather may displease anyone. However, the trek is not impossible these days.

Everest Base Camp Short Trek Difficulties

Everest Base Camp Short Trek offers a moderate trekking experience. However, it has some potential level of difficulties. First of all, this itinerary completes within relatively less number of days that means you will gain a sharp altitude every day. Gaining altitude without proper acclimatization or climbing hastily may put you in the risk of Altitude Sickness which is the most common difficulty faced by many trekkers during the Everest Base Camp Short trek.

Another notable difficulty is the weather. The weather can change any time in the mountain. During the trek, unplanned troubles might join any time. During monsoon, the trekking trails are wet and slippery due to frequent rainfall. There can be landslides and avalanches in many places which may hurdle your trip. Similarly, different types of insects such as leeches and bugs may distract you. It is not that much easy trek. It becomes more difficult during off-seasons.

The trail passes through steep, rocky land which is filled with snow and wilderness. You have to spend 6 to 7 hours uphill walk to complete the journey within limited days. It is rather difficult to cope with the steep and narrow trails.

Everest Base Camp Short Trek becomes difficult unless you consider a variety of factors that make your trek difficult. If you consider sufficient training and check the climbing background, you must be able to trek to Everest Base Camp despite the scary stories out there.
