The Everest Base Camp Short Trek with Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition starts off from Kathmandu with a scenic drive to Manthali, a beautiful town in the Ramechhap district. Then we will have a short scenic flight to Lukla. After landing at the most beautiful airstrip on the globe, we will begin our trek on beautiful paths to the villages like Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, and Dingboche as we approach the Everest Base Camp.
We will also hike to the famous viewpoint of the region: Kalapatthar and experience the panoramic sight of the entire Mount Everest massif. Thus, this trekking is also the same as the standard EBC trekking. However, it is short in length.
- Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Manthali at Ramechhap, Flight to Lukla and Trek to Phakding
A journey by bus or air is always a source of superb pleasure and knowledge. It broadens our vision and deepens our knowledge. It is also an opportunity to enjoy the wonderful vistas of nature and many passages of people and culture. Our Everest Base Camp Short Trek begins with a drive towards Manthali in a car. Manthali is a beautiful hill town in the Ramechhap district. Then we will fly towards Lukla from Manthali. Our itinerary doesn’t have a direct Kathmandu –Lukla Flight. We consider domestic air traffic and choose this as an option. After landing at Lukla and having some lunch, we will start our trek towards Phakding.
We will gradually ascend upwards along with the Bank of Dudh Koshi River until we reach Ghat. Then, we will have both uphill and downhill trek towards Phakding. Today, we will have a scenic drive for about four hours, a flight for about half an hour, and a trek for about four hours.

Leaving Phakding we will cross a small stream and start ascending until we reach Bengar. From here too, we will have both uphill and downhill climbing. We will stop at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park for registration. After paying the entry fee, we will make a steady climb towards Namche Bazaar- the Sherpa Capital. Namche Bazaar is the most beautiful town on the lap of the Himalayas. It looks like an amphitheater when we stand at the center and look upwards. We will have acclimatization at Namche.

After spending a full day at Namche Bazaar, we will continue moving toward Tengboche. The trail brings us to the Mongla pass at an altitude of 3,975m. Moving forward the trail offers us an awesome view of some adorable mountains and finally to the biggest and largest monastery of the region, Tengboche. We shall have some prayers at the monastery and blessings from the Buddhist monks.

On this day, we will move through the lush alpine forest. We will come across several small villages on the way. Here we will have a great opportunity to see the mountain life. Passing through Khumbila Khola Valley and ascending towards the ridgeline, we will be awe-stricken by the surrounding landscape. The trail towards Dingboche offers us a jaw-dropping view of Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Cholaste, and many others.

Today we will head towards Lobuche via the steep terminal Moraine left by Khumbu Glacier. We might feel a little difficult while climbing uphill but the scene at the backdrop keeps us motivated. At the top of the hill, we will find numerous memorials for the climbers who have lost their lives climbing Mt. Everest. After climbing sometime we will reach to Lobuche.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner. - Day 06: Trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep then Trek to Everest Base Camp and Back to Gorakshep
Finally, this is the most awaited day of the whole journey of Everest Base Camp Short Trek. Today, we will climb the Everest Base Camp. We will set off early in the morning and move towards Gorakshep. On the trail to Gorakshep, we will see the Khumbu Glacier. As we come near to Gorakshep, the trail will become a little difficult. After spending a few minutes there, we will move forward to the Everest Base Camp slowly.
Finally, we will be at the top of the Khumbu Glacier, and after a while, we will see Khumbu Ice- fell. After a couple of hours’ walk, we will be at the site of our most awaited destination, the EBC. After having some marvelous time over there we will descend down the lateral moraine of Khumbu Glacier. We will climb down to Gorakshep and spend overnight there.

Today we will hike to the highest point of our trek, Kalapatthar. Mount Everest cannot be seen from the Base Bamp because Mt. Lhotse sits right in front of it. So, it is considered the best viewpoint in the entire Khumbu Region. From here we will have an all-around view of the entire Himalayas. The view from the top is incredible. Finally, we will start heading towards Pheriche.

Today we will be moving down towards Tengboche. The trail goes easy downhill till Pangboche Village. Then the trail descends to the riverside to cross the bridge over Imja Khola and continues to climb up to Tengboche. The Himalayan villages and the typical lifestyles of the people there will definitely add a different flavor to your trip.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner. - Day 09: Trek from Tengboche to Lukla
A descent from Tengboche leads us to the Dudh Koshi River. We will cross the suspension bridge over steep Dudh Koshi and move towards Phunki Tenga. We will also pass the village of Tashinga and Sansa to reach Namche Bazaar. We will stop for lunch at Namche. Then, we will continue descending through the densely forested area. The walk remains pleasant in its short ups and downs and finally crossing the Bhote Koshi River thrice, a final uphill climb about 45 minutes brings us back to Lukla.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner. - Day 10: Fly back to Ramechap from Lukla, Transfer to your Hotel.
After having breakfast, we will take an early morning scenic flight from Lukla to Ramechhap. Then we will drive 4 hours to Kathmandu. We can either have a rest in the hotel or visit the busy streets of Thamel. Walking around the busy streets of Thamel can be worth spending quality time in Kathmandu. In the evening we will sit together with us in the farewell dinner organized by Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition for celebrating the completion of the trek successfully. You will have your departure the next day.

Best Time for Everest Base camp Short Trek
The Everest Base Camp Short Trek is possible throughout the year. However, you will have different travel experiences at different times. Travelling at the right season/ time will make your trek more comfortable and rewards you with the most scenic vistas of the great Himalayas.
Autumn (September to November) and Spring (March to May) are the best times for the Everest Base Camp Short Trek. During these times of the year, the weather remains ideal. During Autumn and Winter, the sky is clearer with plenty of sunshine which offers unobstructed views. Moreover, autumn is the best time in Nepal to observe two of the most significant festivals of Nepal: Dashain and Tihar.
The weather during Summer and Winter may add some hurdles to the trek. During summer, there will be rainfall in Nepal and the trails will be muddy and slippery. Similarly, during winter, precipitation takes place in the form of snow at the mountains and the severe cold weather may displease anyone. However, the trek is not impossible these days.
Everest Base Camp Short Trek Difficulties
Everest Base Camp Short Trek offers a moderate trekking experience. However, it has some potential level of difficulties. First of all, this itinerary completes within relatively less number of days that means you will gain a sharp altitude every day. Gaining altitude without proper acclimatization or climbing hastily may put you in the risk of Altitude Sickness which is the most common difficulty faced by many trekkers during the Everest Base Camp Short trek.
Another notable difficulty is the weather. The weather can change any time in the mountain. During the trek, unplanned troubles might join any time. During monsoon, the trekking trails are wet and slippery due to frequent rainfall. There can be landslides and avalanches in many places which may hurdle your trip. Similarly, different types of insects such as leeches and bugs may distract you. It is not that much easy trek. It becomes more difficult during off-seasons.
The trail passes through steep, rocky land which is filled with snow and wilderness. You have to spend 6 to 7 hours uphill walk to complete the journey within limited days. It is rather difficult to cope with the steep and narrow trails.
